It might be a lot like yours (or not at all)

Be careful what you wish for…I'm pregnant!

In I'm a Baby Mama! on November 30, 2008 at 6:31 pm

When I was in my early 20’s I decided I wanted to have children by 29yrs old…since then my life has taken a variety of twists and turns so I pretty much forgot about that desire. But given what seems to be happening now, I will in fact have my first child by age 29yrs old…I will have been 29 for less than a month!

And I don’t mean that in a negative way. Ok, yes I was completely and totally freaked out the first day I found out. And for about three days following. I recall laying there thinking of how I now needed to “edit” my life plan to make this work and be okay with it.

What happens when you find out your pregnant and it’s totally unplanned and a major surprise is that you still figure it out. It becomes okay. You realize it’s a blessing, a gift, a powerful contribution to this world! Then everything else kinda fades away and becomes less a big deal and things that were priorities seems nothing in comparison to raising a healthy, loved child.

I’m grateful for the reaction of my family, and of my bf’s family…they are supportive and excited. I’m also grateful to my friends who have children who tell me, don’t worry about the money–everything will work out. And I believe that is true.

But I’m most grateful to my bf, he has blown me away with his positivity, support, and maturity. I cannot imagine what being a single mother must be like and although I could do it, the experience of having the person who created this with me right by my side is something I didn’t realize would be this amazing.

Basically–I couldn’t be more excited. I have always wanted to be a mother, and feel prepared to be a mother. I have an amazing mother myself and feel I’ve learned from the best there is! This is going to be a life-changing journey that I’m 100% ready for and I simply cannot hold it all in so I’ve turned to my blog 😀
